Mat Collishaw is one of the most significant contemporary British artists to emerge from the influential Young British Artists (YBA) movement of the late 1980s. A graduate of Goldsmiths’ College, London, Collishaw first gained international recognition through the landmark Freeze exhibition in 1988, alongside artists including Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas, and Gary Hume. Since then, he has established an internationally acclaimed career spanning photography, sculpture, installation, painting, and digital media. His work explores the uneasy relationship between beauty and brutality, science and mythology, attraction and repulsion, creating visually seductive works that challenge viewers to confront darker aspects of human nature and perception.
